Alfred Health makes pledges for Change Day 2016
12/04/2016Change Day is a social movement that invites the health and community care workforce across Australia to make a pledge to do one thing to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals; communities and the Australian health and community care system as a whole.

Change Day CEO Mary Freer visited Alfred Health this year. Speaking to staff at The Alfred’s Change Day event, she urged everyone to figure out what lights a fire in their belly, and look for ways big and small to take action and make a difference.
‘Change Day is about empowering you to change the status quo. It takes courage and chutzpah to make change, but your patients, clients and colleagues are relying on you to enact that power.’
We also had our own local change day champions, Amelia Crabtree and Duane Miller, inspire us with their own success stories.
Six-hundred staff pledged to change to the way we provide care to patients and the community on Change Day last month, joining more than 75,000 Australians supporting the cause.
We received some great patient centre pledges this year:
•"To listen twice more often than I speak." Nicole Rasmussen
•"To work more harmoniously with the multidisciplinary team." Priya Rao
•"To contact patient’s family members more promptly and more often." Elliott Freeman
•"To always put the patient at the centre of ICT system design." Ann Larkins
•"To provide the best possible support to staff, to help them provide better care on the wards." Anonymous
•"In a climate where there are increased demands on activity, to shift the focus back to great patient care." Nicole Alousis
• "That antimicrobial stewardship combats antimicrobial resistance so that we can continue to have effective antimicrobials to treat future patients." Diana Goubrial
